The Lord of the Rings, Deluxe 1 Volume India Paper Edition
London: Unwin Hyman, 1990. J.R.R. Tolkien. 2nd Edition. Original Cloth. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The Lord of the Rings, De Luxe India Paper Edition, by Unwin Hyman. This is the 11th impression of the 1 Volume De Luxe Edition of the Lord of the Rings, published by Unwin Hyman in 1990. A Near Fine copy of the book, in a Near Fine Slipcase, no faults, clean and bright. This edition is printed on India Paper, making the full 3 volumes bound into a single volume, only 1 inch thick. The black buckram cloth has the Tolkien design depicting the Numenorean throne with 'Elendil' in tengwar, stamped on upper cover in gilt, silver and green. Maps printed in black and red are mounted as endpapers, all edges trimmed. A small previous owners stamp to the back of the front free endpaper, shown in one of the photos. Housed in the original publishers slipcase, with no corners bumped. An excellent example of this wonderful edition, the only De Luxe Lord of the Rings printing to be issued by Unwin Hyman, features the maps bound in as endpapers rather than the fold out maps. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
