Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1988.
Second Edition. Hard Cover. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Near Fine / Near Fine. Item #2257
The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien, published by Houghton Mifflin in 1988. These are later printings of the 2nd Edition. The brown boards feature the multicolored "Ring & Eye" device to the front boards. The Near Fine dustjackets are illustrated with one of Alan Lee's most famous works. Minor repaired split to the top entry corner of the slipcase. The books do not have mylar protectors, as the slipcase is too tight to allow them to fit. Both books and dustjacket are in Near Fine condition, with a bit of fading to the cream colored spine of the books the only minor fault. Each book features its own large scale map mounted on the recto of the free endpaper at the rear, a couple of minor tears to the mounting hinges, neatly repaired. This is a set of the trade editions, not the book club, with the dustjackets priced and no blindstamp to the rear boards. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested. Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, and Signed/Numbered/Limited Editions.
