The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien. Published by Harper Collins in 1991. This set features a set of the unused drafts of Tolkien artwork for the dustjackets of The Lord of the Rings. The dustjackets are in Near Fine condition with no rubbing or darkening to the spines. The Custom Black Leather slipcase features Smaug on one panel and a large Ring & Eye on the other side, with the JRRT monogram to the rear. This set of books is in Near Fine condition with some minor tanning to the textblock of the books. A later 2nd edition set, with all three Lord of the Rings books being later printings of this edition, while the Hobbit is a 4th printing from 1995. These books feature some of the early drafts of the artwork, by the author, for the original dustjackets of the 1st Editions of The Lord of the Rings that were not used. No previous owners names or any marks to the books, only the dustjacket for The Hobbit has been price clipped. A bright colorful set for the collector.
