The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien, published by Allen & Unwin, mixed issue of this particular style. The Revised (2nd) Edition. Vol I: The Fellowship of the Ring is an 13th impression published in 1983. Vol II: The Two Towers is an 9th impression published in 1978. Vol III: The Return of the King is an 11th impression, published in 1980. All three volumes are in Near Fine condition with the top edge stained red, faded on the Two Towers, clean and bright textblock, with no previous owners names or writing. The original red/maroon cloth boards show no spotting or soiling and no bumped corners. No foxing or offsetting to the endpapers. Original maps are in still in place, in excellent condition, no tears or extra folds. The dustjacket's show beautifully with a bit of scuffing and color loss to the top flap fold area of The Two Towers, no rubbing to the panels as usually found. Only the Two Towers dustjacket is price clipped. These are the later impressions of the 2nd Edition that appear with a differently colored background to the dustjackets. The Fellowship is a dark green color, the Two Towers is a purple color, and The Return a brown color. The slipcase is a new custom Green Leather covering stamped with the Large Ring & Eye, along with Gondor White Tree to the side panels, with the JRRT mongram to the rear panel. A wonderful opportunity to add this significant and collectable set of books to your collection.
