The edges of the textblock are clean and unfoxed, with the top stain unfaded. A very clean and bright dustjacket, with no fading or tanning, bright red colors to the title, Near Fine condition. A wonderful copy of J.R.R. Tolkien's lifetime work containing his account of the mythology of Middle-earth, edited by his son, Christopher Tolkien. The map of Beleriand and the Lands to the North appears as a fold-out map, and is printed in black and red, no tears or marks noted, very clean and bright. Noted points or error's: Page 330 line 4 shows no period after Feanor. Page 352 line 39 has an italicized "and" in 'Lord of Waters and King of the Sea'. Making this the First State of the First Impression of the First Edition. A highly collectable copy, housed in a custom black leather slipcase, gilt stamped with the JRRT Monogram, and Tolkien's Heraldic device representing Luthien Tinuviel stamped on the covers of the black leather. Tolkien, was published by Harper Collins in 2022. "It is illustrated with more than 50 full-color paintings, maps, drawings and designs by the author, some appearing here for the first time." "Also appearing for the first time, an exclusive color booklet reproducing 'A Brief Account of The Silmarillion and its Making' written by Christopher Tolkien." Also included are large fold out posters that reveal the Map of The Silmarillion drawn by J.R.R. Tolkien and the colored version of the Map of Beleriand drawn by Christopher Tolkien. A removable reproduction of the Halls of Manwe (Taniquetil) printed on heavy card. Quarter bound in blue leather and black cloth with raised spine ribs, stamped in three foils with the author's Luthien and Silmarils devices, and the pages edged in silver gilt. Housed in a custom-built slipcase bound in blue cloth and stamped in silver foil, with circular die-cut revealing the Luthien device. A common fault on this edition is the silver foil on the spine of the book is very easily marked or rubbed.
