The Lord of the Rings, Comprised of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, by J.R.R. Tolkien. Published by George Allen and Unwin in 1965, these books are later impressions of the 1st UK Edition, originally published in 1954/1954/1955 respectively. The Fellowship of the Rings is a 14th impression published in 1965, in its correct Fourteenth Impression dustjacket. The Two Towers is an 11th impression published in 1965, in correct Eleventh Impression dustjacket. The Return of the King is also an 11th impression published in 1965, in it's Eleventh Impression dustjacket. The dustjackets are all in Very Good Plus condition showing some light rubbing and a bit of damp staining to the covers of The Fellowship, along with a bit of tanning to the spines. The dustjackets show a small amount of wear to the edges of the fold areas. The is also a piece of clear tape to a closed tear to the front panel of The Fellowship. The books are in Very Good Plus condition with no offsetting or foxing, with the same previous owners bookplate to all of the books, and no other markings. None of the books are price clipped. The red boards on all three books are clean and bright, with the Fellowship showing the damp stains. The gilt to the all three books is clean and bright. Each book has it's own original foldout map tipped in at the rear, all are in excellent condition with no tears or extra folds noted. Red topstain is bright and a bit spot faded on all three books. A custom red leather slipcase, with a ribbon pull, featuring Tolkien's own Ring & Eye and The White Tree of Gondor to the side boards, and the JRRT monogram to the back. A lovely way to house and protect this wonderful set of books. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
