The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien, published by Houghton Mifflin in 1988. These are later printings of the 2nd Edition, still sealed in the original shrinkwrap. The photos of the opened set are for informational purposes only and may not reflect the actual condition of the As New/Near Fine, unopened set being offered. This new set appears to have a split along the upper edge of the slipcase, at this point hard to tell, but should be easy to fix as it has not separated, just shows the split line in the paper covering. The brown boards feature the multicolored "Ring & Eye" device to the front boards. The As New dustjackets are illustrated with one of Alan Lee's most famous works. Both books and dustjackets appear to be in As New unread condition. Each book features its own large scale map mounted on the recto of the free endpaper at the rear. Since this set is sealed in it's priced slipcase, I would assume this set is of the trade editions with the ISBN tag on the rear priced, and not the book club, with the dustjackets priced and no blindstamp to the rear boards.
